The Restaurant
Set in the rural hamlet of Old Burghclere and surrounded by scenic countryside, The Dew Pond offers a relaxing and intimate atmosphere. Once a pair of 16th century cottages, the building retains its oak beams and fireplace from the original structure, bringing a little piece of rustic charm to the interior. From the oak flooring to the crisp linen, the fine art to the scenery, we take care to create a comfortable ambience with an emphasis on high quality. Our friendly front of house team provides highly professional yet informal, unobtrusive service to make your evening an enjoyable one.
The Dew Pond is proud to be an independent, family-owned restaurant that has been owned and operated by Keith and Julie Marshall since 1989.
The Garden
In the summer months, we invite our customers to enjoy an aperitif in the attractive surroundings of our landscaped garden. Our picturesque, decked terrace is framed by manicured hedging, features comfortable rattan furniture and boasts scenic views of Watership Down, Beacon Hill and of course, the adjacent pond from which we take our name.
The Food
Classically trained Chef Patron, Keith Marshall, develops French-inspired dishes that use the finest, locally sourced ingredients. The emphasis is on crafting quality food using traditional, simplistic flavours that everyone can enjoy. The menus change seasonally to include ingredients when they're at their absolute best.
The Wine
We believe that wine brings out the best of any dish. As with our menu, our wine list is small yet refined and includes a selection of grape varieties from all over the world. We offer a good selection by the glass and have a range of prices and styles to choose from, including fine and rare wines for those very special occasions.
